ABOUT THE TEA COSY PROJECT

The Tea Cosy Project is part of the Celebrate Ageing Program - it engages individuals, families, communities, organisations and governments in addressing ageism through arts based approaches. Tea is an acronym for Transforming the Experience of Ageing.

A tea cosy is something associated with Elders, it adds warmth and insulates - we want to send messages of warmth, love and respect to Elders and we want to insulate ourselves against the caustic effects of ageism. The project includes the making of Tea Cosies (like this beautiful one by Loani Prior) but is also includes:
  1. Love Cosies: tea cosy stories about older people we love
  2. Insulator Cosies: art protecting against internalised ageism
  3. Place365: stories (photos and images) from older people about their sense of place and belonging
  4. Kitchen Table: exploring kitchen table cultures and the role families play in building respect for older people
  5. Teaspoons for Respect: messages about respect for older people
  6. Dictionary of Ageism: naming ageism in everyday culture ...coming soon ...
  7. Grateful Ageing: a gratitude project exploring ageing as a privilege
  8. Becoming: art about ageing bodies and who we are Becoming.
