Our Kindness Work
In 2020 as the Covid19 Pandemic swept the world - Celebrate Ageing launched the Kindness Pandemic, an online movement focused on acts of kindness for people 'doing it tough' due to coronavirus. Over 570,000 members joined in two weeks, 70+ groups sprang up around the world and we were voted the Most Uplifting Facebook Group in the World at the 2022 Facebook Awards. We call our approach Intersectional Kindness, or kindness for people who are doing it tough. Its about the power of kindness to bring generations together to build a better world.
In 2020 our kindness movement swept the world with ooh! media posters around Australia, stories in Marie Clare, CNN and over a hundred other outlets (here). The pandemic bought the importance of kindness into sharp focus; and while the sense of urgency is gone - we need kindness now more than ever. To help achieve this, our kindness programs are bringing older and younger people together to help build a better world.

Kindness and ageism
GenK (Generational Kindness) is an all ages movement combatting ageism and building stronger communities through acts of kindness. GenK'ers know ageism hurts and believe our value should not be determined solely on the basis of our age. We need each other and when we work across generations we can change the world - one act of kindness at a time.
Our kindness programs and projects bring older and younger people together to help build a better world. In all this work, the first act of kindness is to understand ageism and build intergenerational connections.
